an IT company that is the backbone to MANAGED OUTCOMES, and offers the same standalone IT systems to.

Who are we?

Lorraine

Lorraine Linden is a registered psychiatric nurse with 12 years’ experience in psychiatry. She has worked half that time in an Alcohol unit and adolescent unit at Groote Schuur hospital and recently spent a year working at Ixande Treatment Centre, a unit that treats alcohol and drug addiction. Lorraine has previously worked as a research assistant at the psychiatry department at UCT for 5 years.

 

Duncan

Dr Duncan Laurenson is a general practitioner with 15 years’ experience in treating substance abuse. His primary role involves the initial assessment of patients and treatment of substance withdrawal, but also manages the long-term aftercare and outcome monitoring of patients

Robert

Dr Robert Bothwell MBBCh, MRCPsych

Dr Robert Bothwell is a Psychiatrist whose area of expertise is in Dual Disorders, which involves understanding and managing the interaction between Alcohol and Drug Use and other Psychiatric Disorders Symptoms.

Dr Bothwell gained his medical degree at Wits and then trained in Psychiatry at the University of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, where he became a Lecturer. In 1995 he joined the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Cape Town where he spent many years running Therapeutic and Addiction Units, before taking on the position of Principle Psychiatrist at Valkenberg Hospital. He also has many years of experience in research and teaching. In 2007 Dr Bothwell commenced Private Practice at Kenilworth Clinic and has offered his services to a number of other prominent Addiction Units.

 

Alex

 

Dr Alex Carter (PhD)

Dr Carter is a clinical psychologist who, over the past 10 years, has specialised in addiction treatment with a variety of clinical populations. His interest is to offer psychological assessment as well as individual and group psychotherapy for people who are seeking help for problematic substance use. He has worked in residential addiction treatment settings and offered psycho-educational lectures about addiction to companies. In addition, he presents seminars about addiction treatment at the Psychology Department at the University of Cape Town. He obtained his PhD which is about the treatment of addiction and relapse at the UCT Psychology Department.

He qualified at the University of Cape Town UCT and has recently completed a further postgraduate diploma in Addiction Care at UCT.
